I'm an associate professor in the School of Media & Public Affairs at George Washington University, where I teach and conduct research on media and politics, digital research methods and ethics, and computational social science.
Before my research took a digital turn, I also conducted extensive fieldwork in former Soviet Central Asia, where I focused on political discourses about Muslims and Islam.
Prior to joining George Washington University, I spent eight years at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
But my heart truly belongs to the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, where I grew up. I love to hike, bike, and camp, and to simply disappear in nature whenever I can.
